Halifax Food & Support Drop In

Individuals and organisations such as The Basement Project, Christians Together, Halifax Parish Church, Salvation Army and the St. Augustine's Centre are working in partnership to establish a drop-in point for 'Food & Support'.

The aim of the project is:
  • To enable vulnerable people who have a 'chaotic lifestyle' in Halifax
  • To access a drop in to collect a free food parcel, gain support and guidance helping them to move on from their current situation.

Recipients will include those who are experiencing homelessness, destitute asylum seekers, substance misuse clients and people suffering extreme hardship.

The Food Drop In has been working since December 2008 and has given out over 12000 food parcels to the needy people of Halifax and the surrounding area.

At this time the average number of clients and families receiving a food parcel is about 110. Just think: that's 110 loaves of bread, 110 litres of milk and 110 bags of food and essentials every week.
