3rd November Newsletter

Monday 5th November 2012 1:49 PM

Today we gave out 117 parcels, 10 new clients this week. We had 49 volunteers.

That is now 18,007 parcels we have given out since we opened!!! How amazing are you to have given so much love in the form of food to so many of our less fortunate .... we can't say a big enough Thank You on behalf of our clients!!!

Another big thank you for your wonderful response to our appeal for warm clothes .... we still need more though with 117 clients coming through the door each week we need a good supply of warm clothes, socks, gloves, hats and blankets to keep them warm and comfortable through what is expected to be a very cold Winter!

I am afraid we shall have to say that at the moment we are now fully staffed with volunteers on Thursdays. There is only so much work we can find to be done and we have a wonderful team of volunteers who are doing the work so well that we cannot fit any more people in. (What a lovely complaint .... we have enough Thursday volunteers .... how many projects can say that??)

Love Calderdale are having a Big Celebration of God's amazing love in Calderdale. It is on 17th November 2012 at Halifax Minster from 6.30pm. Come and join in the celebrations!!

Christmas

Now that Harvest (and what a Harvest it has been!!) is coming to an end we can think about the Items we can use for Christmas Gifts for our clients to give them a lovely treat at Christmas.

Socks (mens and ladies) Toiletries (especially for men) Fun/Novelty Christmassy gifts

Gloves (mens and ladies) Sweets (no alcohol flavours or contents please)

Packets of 'special' biscuits (it would be nice to be able to give whole packets of biscuits)

Re-usable Hand warmers (we have found some for £1 in The Range by the Christmas items and also in Poundland)

Please, instead of Christmas Puddings (which normally contain alcohol as well) could you send other puddings such as Chocolate Pudding, Treacle Sponges or Jam Sponges etc. We find that a lot of our clients don't like Christmas pudding and we get so many of them that it a shame that clients miss out on a treat.

New Ebenezer will be open for deliveries every Saturday morning 9.00 - 11.45 and Thursday morning 9.00 - 1.00

Cheques are payable to CHRISTIANS TOGETHER CALDERDALE

and please write DROP IN on the back so that we know which project it is for.
